2Kings
First and Second Kings were originally one book. Second Kings contains the record of two great national tragedies-the fall of the northern kingdom, Israel, in 723 B.C.; and the fall of Judah, with the destruction of Jerusalem, in 586 B.C.-as well as and account of the mighty ministry of Elisha. During the period recorded in this book, Israel received warnings and exhortations from Amos and Hosea, and a number of prophets arose in Judah, including Isaiah and Jeremiah. The Books of the Kings conclude with the people of Judah in captivity in Babylon.
